GREENSBORO, N.C. — Syracuse (16–8) advances to the quarterfinals after a decisive 89–68 win against NC State (13–10) in the second round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.
The win came from Syracuse’s 14 three-pointers and a strong offensive showing in the second half, which included 46 points.
“We really moved the ball well to start the second half,” said Jim Boeheim, Syracuse head coach. “It was a really good offensive game, one of our best all year.”

Mallory Odell used to be a single-sport athlete. Then she went into the fourth grade.
Mallory, a senior at Longwood University, has been a dual-sport athlete in basketball and softball not only since arriving at college, but for most of her life. She began playing her first sport, softball, in the second grade, after being introduced to baseball by her father.
“My dad is a baseball coach, so that’s why I started playing softball,” she said. “It was always there because I had seen him around it and I had been around the game growing up as well.”

Longwood University was originally founded in 1839 as the Farmville Female Seminary Association, a school that would prepare women to become teachers. Since then, Longwood has grown drastically and offers many more majors than just teaching, but teaching is still very big today.

Farmville’s local food pantry, FACES, is preparing to open a new facility off of Commerce Road in Prince Edward County three months after a flood in May.
“We are purchasing a new building on Commerce Road, east of the YMCA,” said Bobby Eiban, FACES vice president of operations. Their current location, 416 N. South St., is at a low level, making it susceptible to flooding. The new facility will be a 7,000-square foot building, which is double the size of their current location, which is 3,200-square feet.
